Ziggurat of the Sun
Ziggurat of the Sun
Atmosphere
The Ziggurat rises from the desert like a fever dream — a massive stepped pyramid of sun-bleached stone, half-buried by centuries of sand, shimmering in heat waves that make its edges blur and dance. The structure was originally an Ikosian temple, but it has been claimed and reshaped by the Sulrothum — tool-using, sapient wasp-like beings who have built their hive into and around the ancient stone.
The air is thick with a low, constant buzzing. Sulrothum workers — each the size of a dog — move in disciplined columns along carved trenches in the stone. Their High Priest, adorned with gold and crystal, holds court in the apex chamber. Outside, the dunes shift and groan, and somewhere below the sand, something truly enormous moves.
