Atmosphere
Cyoria is a city that hums. Even non-mages can feel it — a low, resonant thrum in the bones, strongest near the western chasm. The streets are wider than most cities, built to accommodate magical traffic: floating cargo platforms drifting between warehouses, spell-light lanterns that never go out, architectural marvels held together by shaping rather than mortar. The air tastes faintly metallic near the Hole, where raw mana bleeds upward from the underworld in visible shimmers.
Despite its proximity to monster-infested wilderness and its lack of a favorable trade location, Cyoria rose to prominence for one reason: the Hole. The enormous quantities of mana gushing from this massive chasm on the city's west side make it an irresistible magnet for mages, researchers, and industrialists. Their presence has given the city a unique culture — magical architecture that would be impractical anywhere else, a booming dungeon delving industry, and an academy system that draws the brightest minds on the continent.
Key Locations
The Royal Academy of Magical Arts
The kingdom's intellectual heart. An elite institution for third and fourth-year students, offering a rigorous program with tiered classes, mentor assignments, and certification exams. Houses ~600 elite students at any time. See: The Academy System.
The Hole
A massive circular chasm on the city's west side — the most obvious Dungeon entrance ever and the only known Rank 9 Mana Well. The sheer magnitude of magical energy bleeding from its depths powers the city's entire infrastructure. See dedicated entry: The Hole.
The Dungeon (Beneath Cyoria)
The vast subterranean world extends far below the city. The upper levels are exploited by delvers for Crystalized Mana and monster parts.
Noble Districts
The city houses the headquarters of several powerful Noble Houses:
- House Noveda — Ancient, prestigious. Estate now controlled by the corrupt caretaker Tesen.
- House Aope — Progressive, politically savvy. Led by the heir Tinami Aope.
The Train Station
Cyoria is a major hub on the continental rail network — the primary way students and travelers arrive from across Eldemar.
Imaya's Boarding House
A private student boarding house run by Imaya Kuroshka, where many academy students (including the players) reside. A warm, safe hub that serves as the players' home base each iteration.
