Less than a century after the Silence of the Gods, a supernatural disaster of apocalyptic proportions struck the reeling Ikosian Empire.
With unnatural, horrifying speed, the great plains of central Miasina — the heartland of human civilization — began to dry out. Within 20 years, an incredibly fertile region capable of sustaining tens of millions was reduced to the lifeless, sprawling wasteland known today as the Xlotic Desert.
Global Migration
The absolute destruction of their agricultural base triggered mass starvation on a genocidal scale. Millions of Ikosian refugees fled north, crossing the Shivan Archipelago to conquer the "uncivilized" natives of Altazia and rapidly establishing modern human kingdoms.
The event permanently shifted the center of human civilization from Miasina to Altazia. The glorious Ikosian Empire was dead, buried forever beneath the sands.
