The Ikosian Empire

• What it is: The dominant human superpower that once unified much of the known world — now fallen, but its language, laws, and magic system remain the foundation of modern civilization.

The Ikosian Empire was the greatest human civilization in recorded history. At its peak, it spanned most of Miasina and Altazia, unified under a magocratic government that established the House system, the state-wide Mage Guild, and the standardized magical tradition that all modern mages still practice.

Peak and Conquest

Founded by Shutur-Tanara on the coast of Xlotic (northern Miasina), the Empire was built on the power of its mage-aristocrats. It colonized much of Altazia, conquering the native populations — the Witches, Morlocks, and Shifters — and imposing its language, culture, and House system.

The Cataclysm and Decline

The Empire was shattered by the Cataclysm — a rapid, magical desertification of its heartland in Xlotic. This triggered a "Great Migration" to Altazia and a long period of stagnation and decline. The successor states eventually splintered into the Splinter Wars, producing the modern patchwork of nations.

Legacy

Every modern nation on Altazia is a cultural descendant of the Ikosian Empire:

• Language: Ikosian remains the common tongue, with regional variations.
• Magic: The Empire's standardized shaping techniques and structured spells are the basis of all modern magical education.
• The Five Treasures: Forged by the gods and given to the first Emperor. Now scattered across the world.
