Quick Character Creation
Use this cheat sheet to quickly roll up a 2nd-year student. For full details and lore, see Character Creation.
Step 1: Choose a Playbook
Pick your class. Each playbook is a complete package — attributes, starting schools, origins, signature move, gear, and bonds.
- The Noble: Born to rule, raised on magic. Your name opens doors.
- The Specialist Mage: One school, mastered. The rest, barely.
- The Country Bumpkin: First in the family to hold a wand. Magic is new and wonderful.
- The Jack of All Trades: Anything, just never perfection.
- The Mind Mage: Open. Thoughts leak in — and out.
- The Craftsman: Son of the workshop. The school of things.
Step 2: Choose an Origin
Pick 1 Origin from your playbook's table. It grants a Connection (person, organization, or access; frequency noted, e.g. 1/session or 1/arc).
Step 3: Choose Your Playbook Moves
- Your Signature Move is auto-granted — you always have it.
- Choose 2 of the 6 Playbook Moves.
Step 4: Academy Logistics & Derived Stats
- Choose 1 Mentor Professor: Pick exactly 1 Professor.
- Choose 2 Academy Majors: Your afternoon classes and available resources.
- Physical Health: You have a track of 7 Boxes. Earning wounds inflicts ongoing penalties.
- Soul Integrity & Sanity: Each has 10 Boxes.
- Calculation comfort: Your Calculation rating is your tag comfort limit before Pushing the Matrix.
- Ready Glyphs: Scene start value is 2 + highest of (Calculation, Memory). Shaping known but non-ready glyphs in tense scenes adds one extra mixed-result pressure.
Your attribute array (sum +4), school dots, and starting Spell Formula are pre-set in your playbook — no point-spending.
