When you need to recover a fresh arcane trail before weather, crowd flow, or magical noise destroys it.

Outcome Ladders

• 10+: you recover a stable directional thread with one useful sensory detail about the target's recent state.
• 7-9: you recover the trail, but adjacent emotional or symbolic residue floods in and creates a distracting false lead.
• 6-: the thread snaps into a predatory decoy signature and pulls your attention into immediate danger.
