Hollow Way

Declaration: Open a person-sized passage through a stone wall, displacing the material into the surrounding structure. Spell from the Alteration school, using the glyphs Schmiede + Fluss. Hard (touch range, one-person cross-section, scene duration) difficulty. Tags breach, restructuring

Technique Glyph: Schmiede + Fluss (Form + Form) Role: form — constructive shaping + transfer Function: forges a clean structural change while flowing the displaced matter elsewhere School: Alteration Expected Mana Cost: 3 ticks (Hard 2 + 1 stacked glyph)

Fictional Trigger

When you need through a wall — a cell, a vault, a dead end — without the noise and debris of breaking it.

Outcome Ladders

  • 10+: the stone flows aside into the surrounding structure; a clean, silent passage stands, stable for the scene.
  • 7-9: the passage opens, but the displaced mass has to go somewhere: the GM chooses one — the wall above buckles and threatens collapse, the passage is obvious to anyone who looks at the wall, or the restructuring leaves telltale scarring that a skilled Divination read can date and trace.
  • 6-: the shear forces slip and the wall fails unpredictably, and the GM makes a hard move (partial collapse, buried belongings, the wrong wall).

Notes

A textbook creative composition: in-ladder for Alteration (Schmiede Tier 0, Fluss Tier 1), no exotic glyphs needed. The same intent expressed through other schools costs more — a Dimensionalism mage would need cross-school Hohl access (with added cost/risk), and the Soul Cohesion Law means never targeting living tissue this way below Miracle scale. This is the kind of spell that earns its inventor a reputation and a place in the academy's rumour mill.
