Blink

Declaration: Fold the space between you and a nearby point and step through. Spell from the Dimensionalism school, using the glyph Gitter. Standard (short range, self, instant) difficulty. Tags teleport, escape

Technique Glyph: Gitter (Anchor) Role: anchor — lattice structures Function: routes transit through stable spatial nodes School: Dimensionalism Expected Mana Cost: 1 tick (Standard)

Stack variant: Gitter + Anker leaves a return anchor at your origin point, letting you snap back — one extra tick (see Magic System).

Fictional Trigger

When you need to cross a gap, dodge through a closing door, or escape a grapple — short-range spatial transit.

Outcome Ladders

  • 10+: you arrive exactly where you intended, oriented and ready.
  • 7-9: you arrive, but the transit is rough: the GM chooses one — you emerge slightly off-target (wrong side of the door, awkward footing), the fold is visible to witnesses, or the jump leaves you briefly disoriented.
  • 6-: the lattice snags mid-fold and deposits you somewhere you did not choose, and the GM makes a hard move.

Notes

The first transit formula Dimensionalism students earn. Long-range and group transport are not this spell — they are Teleportation specialization territory with far higher costs and stakes.
