Spell Formula
Spell Formula
A Spell Formula is a support magic practice used in the creation of permanent Wards and magical items. It involves anchoring spells into a carefully-crafted diagram of geometric shapes and sigils to make them persist indefinitely.
Spell formulas limit mana flow along much tighter boundaries than standard Shaping, making the effect highly specialized but inflexible. Because the margin for error is so small, creating them requires high dexterity, mathematical expertise, and patience.
Mechanically, mages use Spell Formulas to prepare magic in advance. Inscribing a spell into an item allows it to be cast almost instantly later on, but the rigid pathways cause the spell to cost double the usual mana upon activation.
