Nature

It is believed to be a fragment of the chaotic vitality of the primordial dragons. Unlike standard mana, it is a permanent part of a being's soul or physical makeup.

Ritual Use

The essence is extracted (often through dark or secretive means) from shifter children. It is a necessary component for the initiation rituals of shifter tribes, allowing an "outsider" or a child born without the innate bond to be bonded with a spirit and gain the ability to transform.

Ethical Concerns

Because extraction is often traumatic or destructive to the source, the trade and use of Primordial Essence is a highly controversial subject, often hidden from the public and the Triumvirate Church.
