Description

The Triumvirate Church is the dominant religious organization across the continent of Altazia, originally established globally by the ancient Ikosian Empire. It worships a triumvirate of deities and maintains an extensive network of temples, priests, and specialized warriors. Historically, their immense power stemmed from a true, tangible connection with the gods who frequently intervened in mortal affairs.

The Silence of the Gods

This absolute invincibility was shattered during the Silence of the Gods, when all divine communication inexplicably ceased forever. No prayers were answered; no miracles performed. Stripped of divine validation, the Church fractured, losing nearly all its political power and reverting to centuries of brutal, mundane in-fighting and schisms to maintain its relevance. The tragic failure of their healing arts during The Weeping further eroded the battered remnants of their public goodwill.

The Monopoly on Soul Magic

Today, they function as a powerful, albeit vastly reduced, organization. Due to the horrifying implications of Soul Magic, which is considered deeply unethical and the darkest of all magics, the Triumvirate Church holds a global, undisputed monopoly over its legal practice.

No one outside the Church is legally permitted to study or wield Soul Magic. The Church has an institutional interest in combating undead and necromancy, producing dedicated undead hunters and fanatical templars — battle priests skilled in fire magic and soul perception — whose sole purpose is to hunt down and legally execute rogue soul mages and necromancers. Because they possess the only legal expertise in these fields, even secular governments and the Big Three are forced to cooperate with the Church to police the darkest magical crimes.
