Interspecies Relations
Interspecies Relations
Humanity is not the only sapient species in the world, and the rapid expansion of human magitech and the Spread of Magical Training have created complex, often fraught relationships with other intelligent beings.

The Aranea
The Aranea, a species of highly intelligent, telepathic giant spiders, exist in a delicate, mostly hidden state of coexistence with humans. They often reside in the upper levels of the Dungeon or in secluded forests.
- Trade and Secrecy: Some human governments and magical academies maintain secret treaties with Aranean webs, trading magical knowledge, silk, and information. However, due to human fear of Mind Magic and monstrous appearances, these relationships are kept hidden from the general public.

Shifters
Shifters (humans with inherited animalistic transformation traits) face significant prejudice in mainstream society. Often viewed as cursed, dangerous, or primitive, they are frequently marginalized. Many shifters find work as mercenaries, trackers, or in the dangerous lower tiers of the Dungeon delving industry, where their physical enhancements are valued over their social standing.

Lizardmen and Other Sapient Races
Tribes of Lizardmen and other non-human sapient species primarily inhabit the swamps, deep jungles, and deeper Dungeon levels.
- Conflict and Exploitation: As human civilization expands to harvest more Magical Materials, clashes with these indigenous magical species are common. They are often treated as hostile monsters by expansionist governments, leading to bloody border skirmishes and displacement.

Legal Status
In most human nations, non-human sapient species are not recognized as citizens and afford few, if any, legal rights. The Magistracy rarely investigates crimes against non-humans unless it threatens human settlements.
