The Desertification of Xlotic

With unnatural, horrifying speed, the great plains of central Miasina—the heartland of human civilization—began to dry out. Within a span of 20 years, an incredibly fertile region capable of sustaining tens of millions of people was reduced to a lifeless, sprawling wasteland known today as the Xlotic Desert.

Global Migration

The sudden, absolute destruction of their agricultural base triggered mass starvation on a genocidal scale. The shifting desert sands buried ancient cities and forced the largest known migration in human history. Millions of Ikosian refugees fled north, crossing the Shivan Archipelago to conquer the "uncivilized" natives of Altazia and rapidly establishing modern human kingdoms.

The event fundamentally shifted the political and magical center of the world from Miasina to Altazia. The glorious Ikosian Empire was dead, buried forever beneath the sands.
