Military Brat
Military Brat
Your family serves in the Eldemarian military. You were raised on base and taught how to fight before you were taught how to read.
Overview
The Splinter Wars left a massive cultural scar on Eldemar, and the military remains a dominant force in the nation's politics and culture. You grew up bouncing between fortified garrisons, border outposts, and training camps. The rigid discipline, early morning drills, and the smell of alchemical gunpowder are as comforting to you as a mother's lullaby.
While the Academy focuses heavily on theoretical research and elegant aristocratic dueling, your magical foundation is entirely martial. You view magic as artillery, logistics, and battlefield control. You know how to clean a rifle, march for three days straight, and follow orders without hesitation.
Mechanical Benefits
- Starting Bonus: Gain +1 free dot in Melee Combat or Ranged Combat, and start with a standard mundane weapon (e.g., a sword, a rifle, or a combat knife).
- Connection — The Quartermaster: You know how to navigate military bureaucracy. Once per arc, you can pull strings with old family friends in the military to requisition restricted combat gear, obtain military-grade intelligence, or gain access to a secure military facility.
Roleplay Hooks
- Strict Discipline: You keep your room spotless, wake up at dawn, and address your professors (and sometimes your peers) by military ranks.
- Mundane Reliance: You trust a good piece of steel or a loaded rifle just as much, if not more, than a complex spell matrix.
- Chain of Command: You instinctively look for a leader in chaotic situations, and become highly agitated when a group operates without a clear hierarchy.
